|
|
Hey folks,
I've been spending too much time lately with my head where my feet should be and my feet where my head should be (aka, under the fusebox). I've come across two interesting things-
1) I found factory wiring for a power antenna on my '80 931. I had a hell of a time figuring out what a white wire with black shrink-wrap around it, dangling near the rear of the stereo was for. I couldn't find it on the haynes wiring diagrams. I ended up tracing it to a harness that has another wire coming from the fuse box (+12v swtiched) and a brown wire going to ground. All three wires exit through the sheetmetal behind the driver's side fender. My antenna is manual, but all three wires have been cut with small nubs sticking out of the inner fender. I thought it was unusual...
2) A mystery wire not in the wiring diagrams. The wire leading to the passenger door interior light switch is brown, but the small female spade terminal that slips onto the switch has a ~4 inch blue/white wire coming off it that terminates into a covered pin connector. On the wiring diagram, the driver's side door should have this, where the blue/white wire leads up to the interior light, but the passenger side should not. Any ideas on this mystery wire? Maybe the factory just used a driver's side lead on my passenger side, and left the extra wire dangling?
Meanwhile, the MS/EDIS wiring is coming along. I've spent about $120 now in shrink wrap, terminals, butt-ends, wire ties, a fuse box pin tool, etc. This doesn't even include 80+ stamped and labeled wires...

Curious.. if this wire wasn't coming out of the actual stereo and if you car has a manual antenna, where does the wire go? _________________ -Stu
