the driver's electric window seems to have an intermittent fault whereby i activate the switch and i notice the voltmeter needle on the centre console drops down but no window movement.
this happens when the switch is activated in both directions, but the window and motor do nothing.
i've takent the motor out and it works no problem!
passenger window works fine no probs
what could it be?
thanks

I'm guessing the motor is almost done or the driver's side switch needs cleaning (less likely).
Could also be the ground for the window motor is dirty.
It's probably not the relay since the passenger window would have the same issue. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

With the motor out, does the window slide freely in the track to it's fullest extents? Might be some schmutz in the track or the improper alignment.
EDIT: Sorry, schmutz is a technical term for debris. _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |

Had a similar problem with my 928. The culprit turned out to be the grease in the gearcase had turned to rocks and causing the motor to bind up.

i took off the motor, checked manually to see if the window goes up and down OK, and it does...
refitted the motor, and it worked fine again.
my guess is the motor cant engage the mechanism correctly for some reason when the window is in the fully up position.
but it works now, so we'll see if it happens again.
also noticed the bottom of my door full up with rain water.
doesn't it have drainage for rainwater?
