How important are the fuel accumulators? The linkage on the car to the fuel accumulators are very rusty and i have found that they are expensive to replace. Can i go without the fuel accumulators? Is there a way to do something else to replace these? thanks.

You need them, the only way to get rid of them is to get rid of the CIS system. You could convert from 2 20cc ones to one 40cc unit.

I believe this is the conversion kit but not positive. Either way, the price is great. I've bought from him before and always have gotten what I've ordered in a timely manner.

EDIT: He sells these often on ebay, usually has one a month so if you don't get this one, probably another will come up.

The accumulator/s is like a balloon in the fuel line.
The 'balloon' inflates when the pump is running and after shutdown, as long as the fuel system has no leaks or bad check valves, it keeps the fuel lines pressurised.

If the pressure drops the heat from the engine vaporises the fuel and you have a hot start problem.
The boiling point is raised by increasing the pressure. (common law of nature)
It keeps fuel at the injectors below opening pressure but high enough not to vaporise.
