Does anyone know Jon Southworth or PAECO in Birmingham AB ?
The reason I am asking is that in early Feb 06 I placed an order with PAECO for some pistons , rings, stud kit etc. I spoke to a person called Carl Stringfellow ( the founder of PAECO some 40 plus yrs ago). He took my order and I paid by VISA CARD. Carl said it would take about 6 – 8 week for the parts to get to me. About 3 weeks ago I phoned PAECO to chase up my order. I spoke with Carl Stringfellow who told me that he had sold the company last Aug 05, and that he could not help me. I would have to speak with Jon. Eventually I was put on to some female who told me that there was a problem with the pistons and they had to be reordered from the factory. (by this time not happy at all ) so having no choice I waited.
Last Thursday I got this email from Carl Stringfellow.

I'm afraid that I am the bearer of bad news. The young man that you have been dealing with, Jon Southworth, went broke and was foreclosed on. I am restarting the business (I was the original founder of it 42 years ago) and am trying to get all of Jon's orders straightened out. From what I can piece together, you placed your order with him with a bankcard and he very shortly after that was closed down. Your piston order was never placed with the factory.
You should immediately issue a chargeback order to your bank to recover the money that you paid to Jon, as it is no longer here. You can then replace the order with us and we will get it filled for you. I am sorry for the delay but at least you will eventually come out of this OK. I have taken steps to recoup my money. But not sure if I should reorder the parts . Carl sounds genuine and has a good reputation as far as I can find out (more info would be appreciated ). But am I going to be in the same situation three months from now?
So if anyone knows what is going on over there I would really appreciate your help.
