Cam out, but make sure you remove the mounting bolts in the correct manner. The procedure is not what you would expect.
Keep all the parts in order, so that they can be returned to the same locations. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

Ok thanks Paul
-I did not want them to try and take advantage when I walk in like a dufuss with the cam on.
Its weird though- coffee like oil on my radiator cap but no water in my oil -I just changed it. Vacuum gauge reads steady and like normal- it is a little quicker too get hot at standing but not overly hot. The oil pressure is down at idle but it was time for an oil change anyway.
This all started after my thermostat failed on the way home -though it did not overheat- my old hose sprung a leak from the pressure at the thermostat and I saw the steam coming under the hood at a light. Could it just be a small oil leak into the water -But where?
New head gasket is on order in preparation for failure anyway. _________________ 1978 924 95 mile daily driver.

Ya, take a close look at that picture I posted in Kahl's link. Probably not your problem but look close at your head when you pull it off.

The crack in that picture bridges the oil passage for the camshaft with the cooling system.
Usually this would put oil in the cooling system when the motor is running and coolant in the oil system as soon as the motor is shut off.
I've also seen several headgaskets that have failed at the same place. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"
