Ahh, the dreaded rust is finally catching up with my old girl.
I've had cars in the past where I've tried to clean up rust patches and it seems to come back twice as quick - what's the secret to knocking it back for a good few years? This is on the door bottoms mainly but a couple of other places aswell.
I don't want to spend a fortune getting the car fully re-sprayed just to tidy up a couple of little patches, but I don't want to spend ages cleaning it up, painting the area's only to have it re-appear in a few months time... _________________ Mars Red '78 Euro 924 n/a

Fish oil in the crevices and bottoms of doors helps.
Get deodorised stuff or you'll have cats and Ellen lookalikes following you. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

Sand blast...epoxy prime! Then do any body work..reprime and paint. Sounds easy...lol but it will take much longer. _________________ 1976 924

I"ve heard you can tape a magnet to the body panel and that helps. _________________ Working on cars is restful for they have neither conflict nor emotion.

what i do, is either clean all the loose rust away with a wire wheel and/or sand paper. then, i use Rust Converter, which converts the rust into a sandable primer. it is avalable in a spray can or brush on. Then, i let that dry, sand that down perfect, the paint it. you can do this for all of your small to medium sized rust spots, but for larger, eaten through rust, it calls for welding, bondo, etc...
this seems to get the job done, without the rust coming back as long as you get all the loose rust away and make sure to be generous with the rust converter. _________________ early 77 924 na |

sand all the loose stuff off and clean it, use rust convertor and then paint it with something like por15. This stuff is suppose to be good, it won't chip or come off if you do it right. Suppose to stop the rust permanently, at least good enough. I don't know how serious your rust is. I had a honda once that I could rip huge chunks of metal off due to rust, painting over it won't fix it.....
I used this to fix my battery tray. _________________ 78 924 sold.
