Just wondering, there is one for sale locally and it says 81 924S turbo. Is there anything special about this car? I'm not thinking of buying it , just wondering what it is because I never heard of this model. the ad says 79k miles, and in excellent condition, needs water pump and tuneup... 3000 obo.

'81? I'd say it's a Turbo S... not S Turbo.

Ask Paul, he's got one.

I haven't even seen the car. Excellent condition could mean anything....

says 79k miles but that's kinof hard to believe especially with all the 924 odometers broken.

I just thought this car was special because of the "S". I just checked my 924 Gold Portfolio and I was right it is a 81 924S turbo, they have an article on it in this book, it says that the S Turbo came with $2200 in suspension upgrades and cosmetic upgrades, I think 928 wheels. That's basicly it, same engine as 924 turbo. so not really special. when I first saw it I thought it was the 944 turbo engine, but there was no 944 or 924S in 81.

theres another 81 turbo for sale for 1500, says new valves..... guess the timing belt broke and new clutch.

I'm not looking to buy a 924 turbo though. I was tempted to go an look at it because of the price but theres no way I can make it a daily driver, it'll just sit on my driveway.

I doubt any of these cars will be in the same condition as Khal's car, his car looks pretty mint.

OK, my mistake. I think I know what they're talking about (same as your car, right Paul?) but I didn't realise they put the "S" before the Turbo... I thought it was after.

http://www.buysell.com/search/resultsvr2.aspx?pshcat=keyword&id=2146&qu=porsche%20924

both are from buysell. if the 924S turbo only needs a water pump/ tuneup that's a pretty cheap repair. I think this one may be a nice car by the description.

I'd grab that one for $1500. Head and clutch done - there's two of your biggies right there. Even if it craters within a year you can sell off the parts.

yeah doesn't sound bad. but I'm saving my money for a daily driver. I go to SFU next year and its a 45 minute drive everyday.

and old turbo just scares me. I bet it'll be much harder to figure out what's wrong with it if it starts acting up.

also I'm not sure how easy 924 turbo parts will be.

I might go look at it this thursday because I'm considering another porsche I'm thinking 944 for reliability..... but a 944 will cost at least 6000 plus the timing belt service it'll be 8 grand before I can even drive it.

this 924 turbo says " needs tlc", when someone says that it usually scares me away...... tlc usually means 924 turbo beater please get it out of my garage.

my 924 is basicly sold...... so I need another car.
