Thought this was quite relevant to us 931 folks-
http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?t=265014
The 3.0" made 4hp / 7ft-lbs on a bone stock 88 951 (cat bypass only, showing 209rwhp) and no reported difference in spool-up time.
Our 931's use the same 2.5" exhaust (with some different bends on the downpipe). I suppose we can cross "upgrade exhaust" off the list until approaching 210hp at the wheels!

YOU DO NOT NEED TO TOUCH THE EXHAUST UNTIL APPROACHING 300 WHP . JUST OPEN THE WASTEGATE TO VENT TO ATMO, THIS WILL HAVE THE SAME EFFECT AS THE LARGER EXHAUST. _________________ 928 gts prototype

Hmm
I'm about 2 weeks from having a custom 3" exhaust built for my car too. I was expecting a few more HP's than four...
Oh well, does anyone have a suggestion for the type/brand of muffler to use to give a nice sound? I haven't heard many modified 931s... _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

USE STOCK 951 EXHAUST , OPEN WASTEGATE TO ATMO. |
Where does the stock 951 exhaust bolt on, on our cars? After the cat? or at the turbo? I dont think I'll be running the wastegate to the atmosphere until I hear what it sounds like first.. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

the 951 exhaust bolts on after the Cat, and opening the wastegate to atmo sounds nice _________________ 3 928s, |

I have stock 2,5" downpipe and stainless steel 3" after that with a straight through muffler that has 3" inlet and 3,5" outlet (no idea who made it though). I fabricated a short pipe from WG to atm too. I have to take some time and make a photoshoot session _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

Magnaflow is the best sounding exhaust. Magnaflow was by far superior to the Flowmaster and Dynomax that I also had tested on my car before purchasing the Mag. _________________ '79 924 now Totaled! Carrera GT bodywork for sale!
