Hey all - new owner of an 87 Porsche 924 S here...I bought the car about 3-4 weeks ago, but just finally got it out of the shop (had front end service and tune up done immediately, along with a whole bunch of other stuff - power steering and coolant hoses, rear brake lines, new headers and cat, hood cable, and a few lights) and I'm really excited about it. Its still a little rough around the edges aesthetically, but its going into the body shop to get those smoothed over soon. After that, my next move is probably going to be to replace the seats as they are pretty beat up, but I don't really like the factory seats...does anybody have any advice/suggestions for aftermarket seats or racing buckets? Thanks
and yes, part of why I want the racing seats is because this will eventually be going to the track/auto-x _________________ '87 924 S - No sunroof and a few modifications |

Welcome to the Board.
Sounds like you are going about getting your new car ready for the road the right way.
But, I noticed that you are planning on installing a 944 cat? The 924S with 2.5L engine already has the same cat that the 944 uses.
There is a small amount of hp to be gained with a catback exhause, but a switch to a "performance" chip will require a change to premium grade fuel at all times to gain a small amount of hp at the mid and high end, while costing some response on the low end. |

thanks...its definitely not the cheap way to get it on the road, but i think in the long run it'll save me money
as for the 944 cat, when i bought the car, it actually had a hollowed out cat, but i got a great deal on 944 headers and cat, so i got those...apparenlty the cat is like .25" wider inner diameter or something like that.
As for chip or exhaust, I guess I'll put the chip on hold if I lose power down low with that...I already use premium fuel, so that wouldn't be a change, but I don't want to lose any power in the bottom part of the rev band because I'm not a good enough driver to really make the most of a narrow high strung power band. The catback will eventually add a little more grunt though, which wouldn't hurt... _________________ '87 924 S - No sunroof and a few modifications |
