Has anyone made their own custom front bumper? I am taking a machine shop class next year, and I was thinking maybe I could make my own front bumper to replace the junky american bumpers. The machine shop teacher is a really cool guy, and I'm sure he would help me. I was thinking of making something similar to the euro bumper, but just a bit more low profile, and with just the signals. What do y'all think?

Ryan -

Fiberglass or Metal? That is if you are doing metal = machine shop -

One could modify the stock US bumper extensively. I have...before.

As for glass yep, been their done that....

The US Spec bumper is a turn signal bumper only - so, cut, notch, weld, etc.. and modify/customize center section -

There are several of us who have modified our bumpers and valance panels. You can see my modified front valance here from a 944. BTW...don't wait for the machine shop training for help. There is not alot a training that will be usefull towards fiberglassing and bodywork. You can get started by yourself if you have the drive. I was self taught doing bodywork for many years.
