Righto, the Yanks got a bad wrap pretty much all through last year (and the year before... and the year before... and... )

So I thought I'd start a thread about what I reckon is good about the U.S.

First up: They have a huge supply of 924's and they can buy 'em for next to nothing (compared to what we pay). That's pretty cool.

And they call a Chemist/Pharmacy a "Drug Store". I love that! It's where you buy drugs so why not call it a drug store!
Chemist... Pffft

They kicked Englands arse, in a war, no less! Aussies love anyone who kicks Englands arse

Keep 'em comin'...

Gee Kahl! I'm getting all misty eyed!!

The best thing about America is the fact we recognize that ALL people are born with certain rights and they are not "given" to us by goverments or some other men.

Next best thing: if you threaten me or mine I'm gonna shoot your ass!!

Wisconsin has both cowboys and Indians.

Oh, and they have Las Vegas! An entire city devoted to Sin. Nice.

And the worlds' most kick-arse fun parks!

And they have the Space Shuttle! Very cool

And apparently you don't have to wear a helmet when you're riding a motorcylce in Wisconsin... We're legally required to wear a helmet when riding a skateboard on the bloody footpath!

Oh yeah, and every Yank I met was very polite... seriously! It seems to be a national obsession!
I'd let fly with a string of choice expletives and they'd look at me like I just strangled a kitten! Weird. But cool.

I think their patriotism and national pride sets an example.
They are taught a lot about their country at school.

(although in my experience they are a bit naive about the rest of the planet)

Yeah, WE'RE pretty naive....yeah, sure. I guess we just don't get out much?

I've had people ask me how we manage to land passenger jets at our airports since they thought buffalo and Indians still roamed freely across the plains.

Sheesh, don't people know it's the 21st century? We now keep them all corralled somewhere, we don't know where, the gov't doesn't tell us.

And in Sydney they close the harbour bridge daily at noon to allow the kangaroos to move into the cooler parts of town.

LOL! Where the F were you, Minnesota? Obviously not NYC! Maybe you wandered south out of Detroit and stumbled into Canada without knowing it?

Hmm, let's see, things I love about the USA... Having a place as wonderfully wierd as California we can visit (but don't have to live there)

Most of my dealings buying parts for the 924 have been with Americans, either through the board or EBay or an online order company. I have had nothing but good experiences, they have all been friendly, helpful and honest.

Through my travels as a Judo competitor I have met, trianed and competed with many Americans and they have always been humble in defeat and gracious in victory.

Both my sisters live in the US, so I'm glad they were able to put their very specialized higher education to a productive use as the opportunities in Canada are sometimes limited due to our small population.

I think when people start bashing America (as they do other countries...Canada, Iraq, England, Australia etc etc etc) they need to remember that 99% of the people in that country are just like you. They go to work every day, they struggle to pay their mortgage and do the best they can for their family.

Actually, we kicked England's ass in a couple wars, Germany's too. Japan got the message the first time. Lately, we've taken to losing wars, just to see what it's like you know...

We have a sport called football that has very little to do with using your feet (aside from running).

As it happens, I was in California! I went to L.A. overnight (but not into the city itself, just stayed at Disneyland), Palo Alto for a week (Stanford) and San Francisco for a few days.

Don,

I know where they are. If you can find me a 931 head, I'll let you in on the secret. I'll bet Jim knows where they are also.

Tom
