ok so I ave reinstalled my motor and everything except for the muffler. I set the timing to TDC at the crank and cam and have setthe distrubuter to the line (mark) under the cap. This is the right line under the cap right? I manually removed the distrubuter and turned the rotor to the line, right? But I am not sure what order to attach the spark plug wires. I am assuming that they should be in order of fire, 1 3 4 2 but where do I start? I put 1 at the rotor and continued round 1342. Car turns over and backfires (like gun shot BANG) but really doesnt even chug just over and over and over. Is the distrubuter and wres set up correctly.?????????????
Also, the four wire under the throttle body, throttle sensors, my labels are two faded and i cannot remeber what order they go in. Can someone please check their car for me. Thanks
Last, does anybody have a post 80 throttle body, the ones that are round rather than oval for a turbo 924.
Again, thanks very much for your helop guys, you havent let me down yet.

Check the flywheel tdc mark against the front crank pulley tdc mark. If they don't both line up at the same time, that's the problem. -And you'd have to disregard the flywheel mark and use the front pulley mark to re-install the timing belt.
What you're doing with the distributor is correct - 1-3-4-2 (clockwise rotation as viewed from the top), set rotor at 1 while cam and crank are at tdc... _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

Sounds like what I was getting when I messed up my plug wire order. My friend's neighbour thought the crazy russians started shooting people This happens when the spark fires 180 degrees after it should, basically your exhaust valve is wide open, the mixture is just about to come out the pipe, and then your evil ignition box decides it's time to make a little spark. I have a hole in the wastegate pipe, so it made a nice bright flash, too. |

can you guys clarify what 180 degrees out is, and how I set the distrubuter rotor to 1.
thanks[/quote] _________________ 1980 924 Turbo (in pieces right now, but getting there) almost there

Cylinders are numbered 1-4 from front to rear. When both the crank and cam are at TDC (when the timing marks are lined-up, you're at TDC for cyl 1), you want the rotor to be pointed at the dist cap post for the plug wire that goes to cyl 1. _________________ "..it's made in Germany.
