Theres one for sale close to me on ebay starting at 100 bucks. Looks like it was kept in nice condition and these are pretty rare cars.
first of all, I'm not thinking of buying it. I don't think you'll have much luck trying to find parts for that car and if you do it would probably cost a ton..
I've heard they are fun cars to drive, I think they have a fiat engine and they are suppose to be pretty quick and handle really good.
this one the interior and exterior looks pretty nice for a 79.
I'm not sure what the reserve is set at put I"m guessing its over 1000.

I don't think I'll be fixing my car for a while.... I got a phone call today from weissach and they said that one of the hoses that I ordered (for the coolant flange) has to be ordered from germany.... and I had to pay another 30 dollars for shipping and that will take another 2 weeks..... I get only the paper gasket and one hose this week.
so two hoses and a paper gasket (1.50 cents) cost me a total of 85 dollars with shipping... spending 80 dollars one two tiny rubber hoses isn't cool.
Also my back is killing me, I injured my back from all the lifting at work. _________________ 78 924 sold.

Here's a news flash for you Timstar.
Authorized Porsche Dealers don't pay extra when a part is shipped from Germany. Did you do something stupid like telling the parts guy to "rush order" the hose?
I believe that Authorized Porsche Dealers in Canada are serviced by PCNA. PCNA and Porsche Ag cover the cost of transportation between Germany and the PCNA Parts Warehouses here in the U.S, and the Authorized Porsche Dealers get regular shipments, so there should not be any extra charge for parts that they don't have in stock. I know I don't pay anything extra to special order parts that are not in stock at the Authorized Porsche Dealers that I go to.
I don't know what/who this Weissach that you order parts from is, but I don't think they are not an Authorized Porsche Dealer. If you are going to buy generic parts, why buy overpriced generic parts? Why not just go down to your FLAPS (friendly local auto parts store) and order what you need? Your local store should be able to order from BAP GEON or BECK ARNLEY. |

Come to think of it, you're right gohim!
I've had parts "special ordered" from "Germany" through the Brisbane Porsche Centre and haven't had to pay extra. Had to wait a week, though... _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

The only thing I've had here in the UK is to be asked to pay up-front for certain parts that my local dealership has had to order in specially... But now I've had a few things from them they don't seem to ask anymore.. _________________ Mars Red '78 Euro 924 n/a

I usually get some extra off the selling price for some items that they have in stock ... But it shouldn't cost more if they don't have it in stock, and they usually don't have 924 parts i nstock. Our local dealer gets a shipment every week with parts, and there's nothing I can do to get it quicker.
OT: Have you asked your Porsche dealer if you get lower prices if you join the Porsche Club? I know I saved my yearly fee in lower partsprices during any three months for the first three years.
The sad thing is that it was 10% off the price, and the fee was about 80 USD. |

I just love how every single Timstar thread immediately wanders off topic!!! It was supposed to be about the Lancia Beta, and here we are discussing shipping for parts that come from Germany! I just love it! Just cracks me up!
Lancia made some cool cars, no doubt : the Aurelia B24 Spyder and the Stratos were two of the best. But that car (the Beta) is butt-ugly! And sitting for 15 years? Can you say rot? _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

the only authorized porsche dealer I'm aware of in british columbia. I've ordered parts from weissach numerous times and not been charged shipping for anything other than shipping the parts to my door. However, I'm reluctant to deal with weissach becuase of previous bad experiances with them. And their typically bad attitude overall. (also them charging me twice for various things, and having to pay 20+ dollars shipping for a 3 dollar part numerous times becuase they couldn't send me the right thing the first few times) out of the times I've dealt with them, they get my order wrong 2/3's of the time I order stuff from them.

the guy at weissach told me I would have to pay 30 dollars in order to have the part in 2 weeks guaranteed or he said if I don't pay the part still comes but it could take over 2 weeks because he said it would go to the US first then Canada.
I didn't want to wait a month for a hose so I just paid. Maybe he just lied to me then. _________________ 78 924 sold.
