Yes and no. I don't use it inside the engine - that's what the torque wrench is for. Outside, very often but not 100% of the time; with regular disassembly and reassembly, you can get a build-up which can be a PITA. And then there's locations where it is undesireable or won't work; lugnuts, where you ought to use antisieze, and CV joints, where it usually gets watered down by the grease and becomes ineffective. In the latter case, safety wire is the ultimate answer.

I used loctite red on my recent suspension refresh. Used it on the four bolts that secure the rear shocks and various bolts on the front suspension as well. I also thought that loctite was a no-no inside the engine...

Exhaust manifold and intake manifold studs, camshaft cover studs,
supercharger mounting brackets, exhaust downpipe studs, manifold support bracket, throttle body mounting bolts... etc
and the tiniest drop on the air bypss screw on the throttle body before I changed to aftermarket as it used to rattle out the screw whilst driving...
I prefer to use spring washers though...

We use lock wire in aviation for a reason,it provides 100% proof against vibration and heat.Locktite should not be used on any components that will be heated above roughly 300 degrees F or will be in contact with oil for any amount of time.I don't care what the bottle says i'm speaking from years of experience. If you want to remove a nut that has been locktite'd on use a blowtorch and heat it up,stuff melts like butter.Ie:exhaust studs.Keep in mind that there are many kinds such as ;service removeable, permanent, sleeve retaining compound, etc.Use blue if your not sure.(service removable)
Don't ingest it either (Joe ) they add sugar to it so if you get it in your mouth you can taste it right away, apparently it's not good for the inards.Glues your ass shut I guess.

I used a light version(I forget the color )on the air sensor plate bolt.It seems to be holding true but will come off if need be.

we use it at work on everything except hot things (exhaust manifolds, pipes, turbos etc) and wheels is a no no. but we use it more for the liability factor so people dont say theyre trans fell out in the middle of nowhere, we dont use it on ground strap bolts (ask me why) other than that its a judgement call.
