Today I noticed that my clock stopped working, but to make up for it, my speedo started to tick really loud like one. The needle also jumped about 10 mph every time. Luckly it only did it for a few miles because it was getting annoying. _________________ 1987 924S Guards Red

Your cable might be bent a little too much, or it could need oil. One of your connections might need tightened up, or aligned somehow if it loosened up. The speedo cable in my truck has been ticking for years and has been fine, I'm not sure about on a 924 though. _________________ Mike

I had a bouncing needle and click with my old 2 cable set up...02 sensor counter was between the two. So I opted to go with a single cable setup, thus eliminating the 02 box.
Test driving the other night, the needle bounces even more and clicks even louder...but I am using another gauge out of another 80 931 I had sitting around. I noticed the odometer does not work, and I`m pretty confident on my connections. I will be looking at it again soon, but I think the problem may be with the driven gear in the guage???
I`ll know a little more when I take another look at it. Unless someone can verify my thought. |

When that happened to mine (the clicking and jumping) it was because one of the nylon gears in the speedo had flat-spotted. As it was the third time I'd had the speedo out I sighed and took it to an instrument store that specialised in VDO and they replaced the gear and the little one that keeps breaking and gave it a service. Good as new. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

How much did that cost, Pete?

It was about $80 (Aus) which I thought was a reasonable price for a full service and calibration check. Unfortunately, all the cheap ebay speedos seem to measure in miles and only up to 80mph. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)
