I don't think any got a relay from the factory specifically for the antenna. Some got a radio relay & power window relay clipped to the hvac box up and to the side of the accel pedal. Mine has those, but no relay or anything at all straight above the pedal. As far as I recall, the power antennas' control line attaches directly to a wire on the radio.
Look here for more confusion on what wire color to look for - http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=7744 _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

I installed a new power antenna and it went from the radio to the antenna and a hot connected to maybe the cig. lighter(?). Anyway, I didn't have to run a relay or through a relay to make it work. Some radios have a blue wire, I believe, that gives a signal to the antenna to activate when you turn on and off the radio. I have mine on a switch on the console by the ashtray so I can put it down and up when I want without a signal from the radio. I think I paid $30 at Autozone or someplace for it. _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |

Seems like mass confusion in that thread you directed me to Smoothie.
I don`t think this ant. is oem....traced some of the wires from the relay I`m refering to, and they lead through the kick panel and on through to the ant. motor. One lonely (already previously stripped) solid green wire is calling my attention.
I guess I`ll have to pull out the charcol canister and take a look at the leads. The connector is unplugged and dangling on the inside of the fender anyways.
Dash swap +stereo upgrade almost complete ! Not to mention all the other little important things I was able to do with the dash out..... |
