I just got my starter today and I want to put the new one in tomorrow (after I remove the oil and oil filter to get the old one out) and I'm not sure what wires connect to the solenoid. there are two spots with nuts on them and also two prong connector things.

also when I remove my old starter how do I remove the wires? you have to pull it down to see the wires then you have only one hand to remove the wires. are there onlyl 2 wires or 4?

oh and I paid 281 dollars cdn for my starter with the core charge when I return my old starter I'll get 80 bucks back so it will only be 200 bucks, I got a 30 percent discount, for BCIT students but I don't even go to BCIT ..... they just give it to me when I said I was a student.

there are 4 wires on the soliniod.

there is 1 which goes into the starter housing, no need to undo this one, then the other large stud is a large positive going straight to the battery, so make sure it is unplugged.

there are 2 other wires 1 is larger that the other. the larger wire comes from your ign switch and it is what activates the soliniod. it will go on the larger of the 2 smaller posts. then the last wire supplies a 12 volt signal to the + side of the tach among other componants as well, if you put the 2 smaller wires on backwards nothing will happen you will just be forced to swap them after, I always undo the wires before removing the starter as those things are heavy

thanks. my starter is unbolted but I couldn't get it out because the filter is in the way.

there is also a heat shield which isn't fully removed I just moved it further away but its still a bit in the way. I couldn't fully remove it, it bolts up somwhere next to the exhaust manifold and I can't even see it.

maybe after I remove the oil filter then I can get to the wires before pulling it out. My battery probably needs charging now because it's sitting for 2 weeks.

If someone lays underneith the car looking up at the starter, and you kneel in front of the passenger side headlight, reach under the exhaust manifold with your right arm and you should be able to reach the starter connections, the person below you can help line you up, and hold the tool in place.
