|
|
Those guys at Pelican just can't get enough of the 924. The poll itself is interesting, but the text of the thread is basically the same 924 bashing by all the same members over there. Is Pelican always like this? I never really read it too much in the past. I think for my rebuild I will buy parts elsewhere.

First drive what you can afford and the second is what you like.
Most current new Porsche drivers don't own the cars. They lease them. In my mind that doesnot count. Then again those bashing the 924s list their cars and most of them are old and don't cost that much. To me this means that they bought the cars to say they own an exotic although it was probably owned by more than one person. Ask them if the bought the car new. I was lucky and could afford to buy them new, but that doesnot mean that I should bash someone less fortunate. Ask these same people how much they owe, do they own their own home, have a good job or did mommy buy it for them.
Me? I bought most of the the Porsches I have owned new and paid for them cash. I don't think I have ever praised the 911 on this site. Sure it is a nice car but I like other cars too. And they are not Porsches, early Elans, TR4s, Ferrari 250s, Morgans, some Alfas, Bugeyes, Becks 550 [Porsche kit car], double bubble Abarths, 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawks and on and on. Sorry no Corvettes.
I hope this does not offend anyone. I just hate it when someone looks down on someone else. As I said be happy with what you have. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

I say vote with your wallet. There's too many other places out there to shop to have to put up with this kind of attitude from other owners. _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |

those guys with 911s or whatever car they have, that bash others bought their 911 or other porsche for that exact reason. The 911 is a classic porsche that everyone knows and it has a good reputation so I'm guessing alot of people buy it to just tell others that their cars suck and to feel special.
and you don't have to be rich to own a 911, isn't a late 80s 911 like 30-40 grand for a turbo? or even 90s. I'm sure anyone with a decent job can afford that with a loan.
I used to know someone that drove a newer 911 turbo but lived in a crappy apartment probably so he could afford the car.
but if you are super rich and spoiled then alot of things will suck to you. I wouldn't mind driving a new carrera gt and telling the 80s 911 owners that their cars suck. just joking. _________________ 78 924 sold.

I'm very happy with what I drive and could give a flyin rat's a** what some bozo posts on an internet forum about it.
How is it that some shrill can get everyone's undies in a twist? Because you people bite, every time. Don't you get it, they're simply goading YOU for their own personal entertainment and laughing their butt off every time you respond.
Quite frankly, I don't care what someone else thinks about what I drive, and you shouldn't care either. Be happy with the community of fellow 924 owners here at the .org and stop worrying what "they" think.
For the record, over the last 20 years I've owned five Porsches -- TWO 914's TWO 924's and ONE 911. Great cars all. But like kids, I didn't like one more than another, after all, each one has its plusses and minuses. To put a point on it, I liked each one not because they were the same, or because one was better than the other, I liked them because they were DIFFERENT, one from the other!! That's what made each one a blast to own.
Give it a rest peeps. Just let it go... sheesh |

Like all 911 owners they a bunch of tosser's and it's not really worth the effort to read past the opening comment and definitely not worth the effort to reply to the topic. _________________ Remember a Porsche is not just for Christmas,

Sorry, I just don't share that opinion. I think you stand for what you stand for or you make no stand at all on anything. They may not respect the car but, if you read the mission statement of the Pelican Parts history, the owners/founders started the business to support ALL Porsche owners, especially the DIYers. And who's more DIY than 924 owners?
I doubt that our business is a speck on a speck on a speck on a fly's a$$ but it'll be a very cold day in these parts before I would spend a dime on parts from that place. _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |

Flosho,
There are probably just 4 votes for the 931 because the tossers are too ignorant to realize it is a 924 turbo.

Man! I really hate it when people do such stuff! They sound just like babies, and i hope they grow up! Its very sad to see people like that, brag about their cars, and disrespect other people's car's just to show them that they are at the top of the world. Who can compare a 90,000$ 911 to a 924 that worths less than 10000$????
I actually dont see any point why these ediots on pelican would do such things.
lets act as civilized people (although i don't feel like doing so) and just ignore them. This is an endless circle! They attack, we defend and no one will win.... _________________ 1977 Porsche 924

HEY!! I Thought the 924 had a aluminum block, and aluminum pistons.
Those Hair's of a Dog (SOB'S). They just like to rag. If porsche made it then it's a porsche. Go to
http://www11.porsche.com/usa/accessoriesandservices/classic/classic-models/models-porschecars/
Then select 924, then the year. THAT IS THE OFFICIAL PORSCHE WEBSITE. So if they say it's there's then it's 100% porsche _________________ What i own:

The 924S's used an aluminium block, same as the 944 2.5L blocks. The early (77-85) 924's used the cast iron lower. _________________ Mike

is it true about the engine being in postal vans? that's kinof funny.
I knew the engine went into economy gremlins that no one really bought because they were super slow (the gremline version had like 85 hp). _________________ 78 924 sold.

maybe I am trivializing the matter - but why is is such a big deal. I mean every manufacturer has to have its best and worst. What is VERY comfirting is that, even if you wanna call the 924 a POS, you're still comparing apples to oranges when you put it next to any Ford POS (i.e. Pinto). Now that is a true POS.
So, if a 924 is a POS by Porsche standards, then fine. Somebody has to be at the bottom of the bucket and I don't mind that so much with this car (being a Porsche).
Funny thing, it is the third (911 first, 928 second) longest lasting production vehicle Porsche has made? It can't be a POS and last that long (13 yrs.).
