Okay, so I've been thinking. The main difference in 924 and 931 is the head, pistons, and obviously the turbo. Theoretically, performance gains possible in the 931, would be attainable in a 924, right? If you routed the turbo kind of like the GTR? (BTW: I'm not planning on doing this, I'm being purely hypothetical) You'd obviously have to do an engine rebuild with forged pistons and the 931 head and so on, but you get the idea right? _________________ Gone: 1981 silver 924 w/ black int. and a 5 speed. |

Yes for the engine... if
931 head was used, new pistons have to be customs as GTR IIRC used lower compression than 931...
Use head studs... new manifold/throttle body
You'd probably have to attend to block cooling by adding oil squirter and change over to 928 fuel distributor for the extra demand and use larger capacity injectors with it.
but the rest of the driveline No...
new clutch, torque tube, gearbox (or strengthened internals) and axles...
plus you'd want some extra stopping power with new brakes
then install modified turbo and intercooler to suit the job.
So yeah in theory their the same engine....
