Ok guys,

Looking to purchase an Electromotive Tec3 (maybe a Tec2 if the price is right) for the Porsche and install it.

Thoughts I have are what TB to use? I think adapting a GM throttle body to my car would be the best as all the sensors are already on the TB and I would just have to put the MAP sensor on the intake manifold (not hard).

I have a problem with dual throttle bodies as I would have to calibrate the EFI computer for each one and that would start to become an issue.

My brother says I should only go with a 52 mm throttle body but that is mostly cauz this throttle body comes off the 60 degree v6 chevy engines and he only likes those engines. I think 52 mm is a little on the small side and I would like to shoot for something closer to 60 mm at the least.

Has anyone else adapted a throttle body onto these cars or have an idea of what would fit reasonably?

Thank you for your response(s),

- Jon McCullough

Really a 52mm TB should be more than sufficiant. I wouldn't go any larger than 60mm though. You may create some drivavbility and tuning problems. Progressive linkage may be needed for the large TB's so you don't have tip-in problems.

A MK2 VW throttle body bolts on, they had digifant injection for the later years I think, so maybe a throttle position sensor too?

Can you find an example of one on the internet? (Photo)

or what year make model exactly? I would like to find out more about this but having a hard time doing google searches...

If you could find it, a million thank you's would be in order...

There's some info on VW TB's on the megasquirt forum site. I think the first year for TPS is '93 on a automatic Passat,

Search eBay for "VW throttle bodY"

THis has TPS, but might not have the same size flange, as it's from a VR6:

I think I found the right flavor (Throttle Body)- won't tell ya guys what yet as I want to remain mysterious and need to find out if I can make a good adapter plate; but if this works your gonna see an easy way to put a modified throttle body on your car that has IAC and TPS setups with the sensors that work with all stand alone setups...

Mysterious? Yes

Curious? You tell me if you are Maybe I'll share my secret tomorrow when I get the plate all fabbed up

Couldn't find a good pic on google, but I know for a fact the MK2 CIS throttle body is the same bolt pattern, the primary/secondary arrangement is the same, and the linkage works in the same way. I know the Passat used a similar throttle body, I'll try to pull the t/b off of my parent's passat and compare it.

Moone924, that throttle body won't bolt up to a NA or series 1 931, those throttle bodies are oval with two butterfly valves. It might possibly work on a series 2 931 though, as they used a single butterfly square flange throttle body. That's just speculation though.

ok, final layout to the intake design of the P-24 EFI project:

1. P-24 manifold to custom adapter plate (still being fabbed up)

2. custom adapter plate to 60 degree GM TB

3. 60 degree GM TB to stock P-24 intake tube (after the stock 924 TB - just the first one that used to bolt up to the P-24 TB)

4. Intake tube to air filter (still looking for something to build up here)

5. (seperate from rest) where cold start injector went an aluminum plate will be built where a specific GM MAP sensor will go. All with no drilling or machining to anything on the car!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Will be able to test fit once endwrench's new fuel rail I bought comes my way later this week to verify any clearance issues.

Folks! This is the easiest way to convert your car over to EFI! If this works out, I can supply the adapter plate so you don't have to change out the manifold and can have all the sensors on your car without any fabrication.

This would be the throttle body in question, A2 Jetta throttle body, same size as an Audi 5000 throttle body, linkage pulls towards the drivers side of the car.

Heh, can't sleep until the girlfriend gets here, only 11:30 anyways.

Snippet from Jon's link relevant to throttle bodies with TPS Said TB's include Passat 16v automatics, some Audi 5 cylinders (NM and 7A engines, probably others) and some G60's.

Reading something on a VW board currently, someone claims that certain BMW throttle bodies are a bolt on upgrade for a MK2 VW, and are much larger.

Seems that the Digifant II equipped VW MK2's did not come with a throttle position sensor, but instead worked off of WOT and CT switches.

The Digifant I throttle body did use one, it's from the Corrado G60, possibly G60 Passat as well. I have no idea whether that one will fit or not.

A coworker has a MK3 Motronic Golf, so I'll have a look at her throttlebody and see if it's interchangeable.

Throttle body from a 2.0 16v in a Passat fits, but again, no potentiometer. It is much larger than a 924 throttle body though, 52mm secondary butterfly.
