Team,

I am rebuilding the brakes on my 931, what is the best way in which to remove the real seal in the hub?

And where do you guys get your new seals etc for both the hub and the claiper

And what sort of money do you normally pay for these

Cheers

Rob

Just what are referring to as the "hub"?

There is a grease seal on the inner end of the trailing arm, and o-rings on the outer end of the trailing arms. There is also a grease seal on the inner end of the bearing endcap that bolts onto the outer end of the trailing arm to hold the wheel bearings in place.

The wheel axle or spindle is the part that is bolted to the end of the cv axle, and passes through the trailing arm, and wheel bearings.

The wheel hub is the part that bolts to the wheel axle that holds the wheel studs that the wheels are bolted to.

The grease seals on the inner end of the trailing arm, and in the bearing endcap can be removed using a seal removal tool (long armed handle with a hook on the end to grab the lip of the grease seal), or carefully forced out with a slot/straight screwdriver and a hammer.

You should clean and regrease the cv axles while you have everything apart, and inspect and replace the cv boots while you are in there. You will need close to (2) containers (14oz each) of high quality wheel bearing and cv axle grease (I use Valvoline Synthetic myself).

The grease seals (#113.501.315H) on the inner trailing arm, and the outer bearing endcap are the same size. They are a common VW part that you should be able to get at any VW or common auto parts store, as are the o-rings (#113.501.291B).
