I was just wondering if a 924 na engine has ever been put in a 944? or is that not possible?

I doubt it. A more likely senerio would be a 944 into a 924 and that is hard enough apparently.

At the risk of sounding obvious, why would you want to? The 944 weighs more and the 924 engine makes less HP, IIRC.

Like Neil said, usually it's the other way around.

haha no one would ever do that. it would be alot of work to do that so even a 944 with a busted engine would just get another 944 engine put in.

I'm guessing if you put the 924 engine in the heavier 944 old people in their motorized scooters are going to be drag racing you and win....

yes, but weight wouldn't be an issue with a 924 s.

Sad to hear that, Sleepy.

What's the problem? Is it dead dead or is there hope for salvation?

You sometimes see complete 2l engines on E-bay. They go for about a ton, but you have to collect it yourself.

Do a 924 Turbo swap... thats a thought... for the 944.

Rebuild your 924 NA better than it was, as described in many places, on the board. Go with VW pistons, etc..

I wouldnt put a Stock NA motor into the 944...or 924S considering you are going from CIS to a DME EFI Car... although if you planned to convert to EFI for the 924 motor... again, seems pointless unless you are talking a 931 motor or a seriously built 924 motor and/or a source of boost.

For the amount of hassle to swap a 2.0L into a 924S/944, it would be easier to drop in a 951 engine. What's the point? You could drop in a 1.6L VW motor too, it's just as silly of an idea.

I think she's a gonner I don't know Exactly whats wrong but this is what happened....
After about 60 miles taking it easy up the M1, i opened up the engine &
did about 110mph for a few miles. She's done that speed in short bursts
before but not for over a mile. Anyway, when i slowed to 80mph there
was a distinct rattle/clatter from under the hood. When i took my
foot off the pedal completely the batt light came on & died & the
engine lost power. It didn't overheat but the oil smelt burnt. It started with a push-start but wouldnt pick up much speed & cut out as
soon as i eased off the accelerator & the clatter was still there.
Had to tow it 70 miles home

What do you reckon the labour cost would be for en enging swap mike? (or how many hours?)

I would try to find out what the issue is first. then go from there, sounds like a possible bearing failure
