Cut an access panel while you've got the time for removal of the transaxle. I had two cars to work with, so I cut an access panel in mind, and then an inch larger section from the parts car to work as a framework for the seal, then a piece of industrial rubber gasket. Just be careful not to cut through the brake lines underneath

A trick I heard from a 944 track guy was to tie the roll cage into the torque tube with a welded bracket and a flange.

you will end up taking out the section for the rear seat belt bolts, almost right upto the ridge.

check out Vaughan web page, I believe he has done this as well.

Yeup, just check where the brake lines are routed under the rear transaxle tunnel, you do NOT want to cut through them.

It'd be very had to explain where I made my cut, but it only has to big enough to access the top two allen key bolts that attach the transaxle to the driveshaft. Get under the car, have a look and you'll see where the brake lines are. Make a note of that, make an outline and cut away... Think of how much room you'll need to fit your ratchet in their, and that's as much as you need. Since I had two cars to work with, I made a small access panel, and cut out a larger piece to screw over top of the rubber so that it would seal completely against water/grime/exhaust etc.

Now that you supply the pick, I actually recall finding that on his site and wondering what that was for.
Thanks for the clarification.
