Where can I get these? I have a slight crack in the oil cooler hose, and my gas line is in rough shape.
Whats the easiest way to replace these lines? And the cheapest/best place to get the parts from, I checked rockauto and performanceproducts and neither had the parts.. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

You can actually take them to a hose shop and have the ends mated to new hose. It's pretty cheap (definitely less than a new complete line). You could give a heavy equipment shop a ring and they should be able to put you in touch with someone (they use hose shops for hydralic line repairs).

I just replaced my fuel line at the tank with a new high-pressure Aeroquip 1/2" line last night--- the pump screen was SOOOO clogged up, I am surprised it was getting fuel at all!
The old line had collapsed and was kinking at its bends, also.
Now the car runs super-rich (smells like my old Mazda rotary!), we need to dial the CIS back now that its actually getting fuel.
A great replacement, took 5 minutes.

I'd check to make sure your fuel pressure is correct since your pressure relief valve may be stuck from not being used for so long. If it's stuck, your fuel pressure will be too high and it will cause the car to run rich. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

James, do you have a link to get the line you used? And a price. Thanks. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

I will check on it, it was some spare line we had lying around the shop. Usually its a per-foot price.....I'll measure what we used, just found the piece in a bundle. It was an Aeroquip black non-stainless steel line, 3000psi burst pressure, measuring 1/2" with very large/wide stainless worm-gear clamps (smooth inside so not to damage the hose).
How would I check the fuel pressure relief valve? I'm still without a manual (though I have the factory 931 supplement binder), this is stupid that I can't get any work done! On the upside, we did pull 8lbs of misc stereo wiring out of the car from the previous owner, replaced the battery with a Total Power sealed unit, and added large ground cables. The A/C was also deleted. About an hour ago I removed the rear seat headrest and some more spare wiring, and fit an AutoPower roll bar that was designed for a 944/968 Cabrio (just need to cut back the rear "legs" for proper fit) that we've had lying around the shop for a few years
That stuff I can do without a manual
edit-- everything I've done to the car so far has been through my shop, Dave Turner Motorsports, in San Diego. We're mostly a racing safety shop, but we've also done racecar setup here in town since 1969. Some of the older Porsche stuff went by the wayside a few years back when Dave started the SCCA/NASA SpecRX7 class, but now that I have this 931 more and more stuff is coming in. Just let me know what you need.

Guessing you probably have a fuel pressure test rig in the shop appropriate for CIS? That's the way to test the system pressure. Tap off the center connector top of the fuel distributor (control pressure bleed to the control pressure regulator aka WUR). Valve closed = system pressure; valve open = control pressure. _________________ John

Eh, we're a racing safety shop dealing mostly in retail and mail order...we own another shop (JMC Motorsports) that does all of the fabrication and racecar prep, but no real diagnostic or general maintenance/repair.
I am taking it back to our other Porsche shop on Wed. for another round on the exhaust gas analyser, dial back the CIS the "right way".
I hit a dog the other night, broke my euro driving light up front (944 Turbo S front bumper) and trapped the poor guy beneath the turbo....I think he was okay though, ran off like, well, a burned dog!!
