I just bought my '81 last year and I'm looking for some more power, but I can't get rid of my car, I guess I'm just too attached at this point. I'm looking for a Windblown or BAE turbo, and I guess they're rather hard to come by. I was wondering if anyone had one for sale, and also I wanted to know if its necessary to rebuild a 65,000 mile engine before turboing? Sorry if you've heard this a million times before, but I'd appreciate the help.

Also, I'd like to add that although I'm leaning towards the impossible-to-find windblown kit, I'm also interested if anyone has developed their own kit or anything really that can help me.

the windblown kit is a better kit from the pictures and info I have read/seen on them,

as per the engine rebuild, no you shouldnt need to rebuild it, but I bet you have more than 65k miles.

Buy a 924 Turbo, mate. It'll probably cost less than adding a turbo to an NA.

Also, with an '81 Turbo, you should get all the cool kit like discs all 'round and suspension tweaks, up-rated drivetrain, heaps of other stuff... maybe even an LSD if you're lucky!

It was designed to be a turbo.

I'm sure you don't want to here it but Khal is right. Take it from someone doing it the hardway!
