Are the headlamps a common enough item to get (ie are they used on lots of cars)? I mean the round glass bit.
Looks like mine has taken a hard rock hit some time recently. Only just discovered it as the headlight is still working fine. I should just need to replace the headlamp itself. _________________ TJ

| Yep, even a 7" dual filament headlight from a 20 year old Holden will work.... |

That said, many of us have converted to Halogen headlights with replacable bulbs. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

I thought the bulbs were always replacable. _________________ TJ

yep, very common. Your local Auto-whatever should have them. I vaguely remember about $90 a pair with H4 globes. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

And I gather "sealed beam" = non-replaceable bulbs?

My headlamps have "H4" written on the front, so that'd be the ones. By "globes", do you mean the glass headlamp bit or the bulbs? The bulbs in mine are fine, I just need a headlamp. _________________ TJ

That's what sealed-beam are..the filaments are fused onto the reflector..non-replaceable bulbs. _________________ '82 924 NA Euro (hers)

| Agreed, but as I said the Holden sealed beams will bolt right in. Just don't drive when it's dark! |

I bought H4 bulbs for $30pr-.
Headlights for $90 a pr should be complete lens as well. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

By globes I mean bulbs. If you just need a shell then it's just beer money. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

I have the non-sealed globes, is there any merit in changing to the 4000K globes?? I believe the stocks are 3200K and the extra colour temperature might help a little. I'm not sure if the blue light globes would do anything but look pretty.
I know a few people have upgraded their lights to higher wattage globes, are these 80/120W or something... I know there are limits on the electrics, are these just amperage concerns??
100W / 12V = 8.3 Amps.... stock
120W /12V = 10 Amps... upgrade probably on the limit of burning out stock wiring....
I think if I can get the facts together I'll do a section for the new board. So arm me up with your thoughts and I'll get something together for all.
It's also nice with the non sealed to be able to get in there and clean the lens from behind...
