Hi all,
still working on the brakeconversion. I bought myself 4 944S 7x15 ET 52 phonedials to go with the brakeset I got from an 931. I was advised by Gohim they will probably rub in the front. The brakes haven't been mounted yet so I haven't been able to try them on. Trying them after the conversion only to find out they do rub is not an option for me, as this is my daily driver. I am currently looking at a nice set of 924S rims. fronts are 6x15 ET 52 and 7x15 ET 23 in the rear. I always thought the rears also need to be ET 52. can anyone enlighten me. The seller has assured me they are the right rims for a 924S (and a 924 with 931 brakes).
TIA!

As far as I know, the 931 has ET52 front & rear, my 931 with spiderwebs is so.

I just checked the Porsche Factory Technical Bulletins, and the 924S came with 6 X 15 or 6 X 16 52.3mm in the front and rear. The option rear wheels were 7 X 15 or 7 X 16 53mm or 52.3mm.
So the 924S was not supplied by Porsche with 7 X 15 23mm wheels.
Why not see if the guy is willing to show you the wheels mounted on his 924S (if he still has it, to proove that they will fit without any clearance problems), or see if he is will to sell you just the front pair of wheels (if they are worth owning).
Then, you will have the correct factory optional size set of phone dials wheels, and you can try the 7s on the front later to see if you can find a set of tires that wont rub in the front, or if you can live with the rub, and the reduced steering lock. |
