What can I do? the seat bolts (2 of them, on in th front one in the back) of the passenger seat have been somehow totatlly stripped.

the bolt for the seat just slides in and out with no resistance at all so its pretty bad....

actually one is like this and the other the bolt won't get fully get it goes loose after you try to make it tighter.

so the passenger seat is just held onto the frame by one bolt in the front and one in the back.

this can't be safe if there is a crash, the seat could get ripped off the frame.

anyone know if this is a fixable thing?

thanks

Take the seat bolts out, even if it's just the stripped ones, & drill right through the bottom of the car. Put a long bolt through & secure under the car with large (& I mean REALLY large) washers & a nyloc nut (so it doesn't vibrate loose). You'll need to make sure everything is high tensile & spray the bottom with undercoating spray to prevent rust.

I've had to do that to my drivers seat & it is working fine.

Agree with TJ however........
In the box section you have to put spacer tubes to prevent crushing the floor.
In oz large metal plates (2"x 2" x 1/4") have to be used instead of washers.

So you mean a thing round metal spacer & the bolt goes through the middle of it? How do you get the spacers into the box section?

I just tapped the original holes for the next size bolts, and torqued them to spec. It was tight getting the socket down on the head of the bolt, between the sides of the rail, but it worked.

Drill through the bottom of the car, Dr Porsche just rolled over in his grave!

Do as numbbers suggests and use bolts like this:

The "threaded holes" in mine were actually just nuts (but the outside of the nut is round with only 2 flat sides for wedging against something) that seemed to be sitting fairly loose under the floor. The fairly thin metal there just started cracking on mine so I just tore it open a bit more & got the nut out, then drilled right through etc.

The top hole is drilled 12mm.
Bottom hole through box section and floor is 8mm clearance for the bolt.
Measure length required for 12mm tube with 8mm hole.
Top of tube should sit flush with box section.

In mine the top of the box section had been damaged by the PO.
I cut out the damaged section and welded in 1/4" plate.
Drilled and tapped into this instead of going through floor.

Mind you drilling the floor was an option.

thanks for the help.

I guess that would work and wouldn't cost much.

but i'd rather have a professional do it.

but if you put a nut on the bottom of the bolt coming out of the bottome of the car and then spray it with rubber it would make it much harder to remove the seat.

Nah! Just scrape off the coating & undo the bolt.

How often do you wish to remove your seat?
