Hey guys, I am pricing out a complete engine rebuild on a 931 Engine for my 1982, and was wondering if you guys knew anybody or any website that sells the kits with all the gaskets and all that fun stuff. Thanks, also still looking for shop mannuals for the same year of car. Thanks

You definitely want to contact EBS (engine builder supply), and ZIMS.

They both have websites, and usually have ads in PCA Panorama, Excellence, and European Car magazines.

The Factory Workshop Manual Set is the best by far. You will need both the 924 four volume set, and the 931 single volume. Check eBay, as you can often find them there are decent prices, or MYPORSCHE (authorized Porsche Dealer) that specializes in documentation.

Auto Parts Swapmeets, are also great places to look.

Raceboy,

No, that is not the Factory Workshop Manual. The 931 Factory Workshop Service Manual comes in a four-ring binder, about 1.24" thick. The cover on older printing is red, and it is gray on a newer printing. For the longest time, they were available for $50-$75 brand-new from some Porsche Dealers that Discount from List price. From what I understand, they are temporarily not available from Porsche, but there should still be some new ones available from old stock at some Porsche Dealers. There are also used ones available on eBay pretty regularly. I bought mine at a local Porsche/Corvette Old Car Swapmeet a few years ago, Brand-New for $25. Most of the information on the car is in the 924 Manual Set. The 931 Volume covers the Turbo specific equipment, and some equipment that was initially offered only on the 931 (like the four wheel disk brakes), and some optional equipment (like the rear window wiper).

The item offered on the eBay Link that you are questioning is the Factory New Model Introduction Information booklet. Each year, when the new models come out, Porsche prints a booklet for mechanics that outlines new features, and tuning information for the new model year. Those booklets were initially sold by Porsche for about $2 when new. Some are still available from Porsche, so it would pay to check on availabilty before you pay an eBay inflated price for a used document.

Thanx for the information.
As for 924, i don't need any more manuals 8i've got haynes and lot of experience), but for 931 it wouldn't hurt.
