does anyone know if the DSM 4g63 and 4g64 motors spin the wrong way for the 924 transmission?

Just thought about it because there is so much HP potential is such a small 4cyl engine because of so many aftermarket parts

the general opinion out there is that the 4G63 spins clockwise same as a 924. I've often thought that the 4G63 might be a good candidate for a transplant as it is one of the few Japanese motors with the exhaust ports on the same side as the 924.

The major problem with the 4G63 was that except for the very first Mitsubishi Starion turbos sold only in Japan and Australia the engine was never used in a rear wheel drive car. The rear wheel drive Starions sold everywhere else in the world used the older non-4G63 engine. What this means is that there isn't a read wheel drive 4G63 bellhousing/gearbox that can be sliced up to be mated to the tail of a 924/31/44 bellhousing. The front and all wheel drive 4G63 transaxles have a one-piece casing (no detachable bellhousing). You might be able to slice the bellhousing off a front-wheel drive transaxle and mate it to a 924/31/44 bellhousing but it wouldn't be a trivial task. Not impossible but not easy.

Hit google and search for "4g63 rear wheel drive" there's a lot of people out there thinking about the same thing for other cars.

Not to mention then the 924 would be even less reliable

yeah, my girlfriend's 95 eclipse GS was very unreliable for about a week just after we bought it, the problem turned out to be that there wasn't enough money put into the car
