Well there was an electircal fire started from my headlight switch.

when the batter was unplugged I was trying to fix wires pluged into the back of the headlight switch.

there is this brown wires that plugs into the back of the switch that i was told is a ground wire (from the instructions on this site for the cold start valve switch) so anyways it had popped out and I accidently put it in the wrong pin on the bak of the switch (next to the right one). anyways when I plug the batter in there is immediately tons of white smoke so I unplug the batter as quick as I could.

the wires as burning and making a ton of smoke I ran to get my fire extinguisher but I must have shitty luck as the fire extinquisher was not wokring.......

so the burning just stopped on its one but the brown wires that goes to the headlight switch had totally burnned off the plastic and wire all the way up to the inside of the dash where it goes into a plastic wire connector. the brown wires comming out of the other side of the wire connector has not burnt.

but this is a mystery there is a another wire that has burn all the plastic off goes up to the console are I can't see what color it is.

but because its burnt I'm guessing it was attached to the brown wire that was burnt.

does the brown wire coming off of the headlight switch go up to a plastic wire connector (multiple wire connector) and also split somewhere and attached to possibly another ground wire going up to the dash.

I need to know this so I know if I should solder the other burnt wire to this brown ground wire (don't want to start a fire agian)

NO again my interior dash lights have stopped working again but the cig light works and the license plate and park lights also work....

the headlights/ highbeams also work BUT, when I switch on the headlight switch to 1 or 2 position the dash instruments get screwed up, the temp goes to red and the spedometer and rev counter stop working only when the swictch is on.

I don't know anything about reading electronics diagrams etc so I feel like i'm screwed.

Can anyone help me.

I also don't know how to remove the dash.

thanks.

Electrical diagrams are not that hard to read.
Take a deep breath and start reading the legend, to see what the different symbols represent.

Then start to look at a diagram with few symbols in it. Look at where the ground, and the positive symbols are. The ground is any place at the chassis or negative terminal, and the positive symbol is a source connected to the positive battery terminal, usually via a switch that gives power or not depending on the situation if the ignition switch.

The first few times reading these charts is very hard...

If you still can't hack it, talk with a friend that studies physics, mechanics or electrical engeneering, they will be able to walk you though the diagrams until you understand them

head over to the 924 Technocal Section (link at the top of the page), click on Electrics and start reading. Vaughan has done a great write-up on reading current-flow diagrams.
