OK so I had to change my oil pressure sender while I was doing everything else and it required me to remove the distributor in order to access it.Now upon replacing it,which I have never done,I find myself with a dilema. You see I have aligned the groove in the cam gear with the needle on the valve cover and i've done the same for the crank pulley and it's indicator.Tightened belt to tension. Then I turned the whole mess by the crank by hand until the Z1 was showing in the cut out of the bell housing, while at the same time the cam gear/crank pulley were aligned also.My problem is this;imy distributor housing has no mark on it as to where the rotor should sit when it's on the #1 cylinder.I've put the clips of the cap at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions like the manual says but ?

| Did you pull the dust cover thats under the rotor off? You`ll find the mark there. |

All I can see is a little nick on the inside of the dist. housing in approx the spot it should be.So now do I turn the housing so the nick meets the middle of the rotor or keep the tabs exactly fore and aft and try to re-position the rotor shaft ?This sucks, where's Lizard when you need him ? _________________ 1979 Euro 931, Olive

If the dist happened to be inserted exactly right, the nick would line up at the center of the rotor while the clips line up straight front-back. If not, and you don't feel like repositioning the distributor, you could just turn the housing to line it up. Nick at center of rotor is correct and's shown on Haynes page 128, pic 10.8. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

Line up the pully and the camshaft again.
Pull the distrib and re-position it.
Don't try to line it right atop the mark but a little before it.
The gears kind of turn it into the mark.
It may take a couple shots for the gears to engage just right so the rotor points to the mark. _________________ 1978 924 95 mile daily driver.
