Not that I was speeding of course, I was just pulled over again for pretty much nothing.
If you are pulled over and you know without a doubt you weren't speeding, or you were just one or two over, then try this:
Officer: Can I see your info
You: Can I ask why I was pulled over? <<< BEFORE you reach for your info, DON'T have it ready.
Officer: You were speeding. Can I see your info.
You: {While getting your info, or just before you hand it to him}
Where did you see me speeding and how fast was I going? {It's a good idea to give him your info now, you don't want to seem confrontational.}
Officer: {While taking your info} You were speeding {insert location here}.
You: {If you know you were not}, say how fast?
Officer: {and if he says}, I didn't have the radar on but it looked like you were going fast.
You: {Then you have him} Before he leaves to back to his car with your info, ask him for his name and badge number. This will throw a wrench into his brain. DO THIS BEFORE he goes back to his car where he can write the ticket.
Officer: If he asks why or as he's telling you.
You: Tell him it's the 3rd time this month and the 6th time this year you have been pulled over and you're compiling names and badge numbers for a law suit of officers that have pulled you over for no solid reason.
SAY IT IN A CALM, NICE VOICE or you'll blow your power in the situation. Act like he's a friend, no anger towards him, the police dept. or the city. Just a regular conversation.
Officer: I wasn't going to give you a ticket.
You: That's fine, I'm just keeping track.
DON'T SAY thank you, it will seem like he's doing you a favor and you'll lose your power.
OR
If he was going to give you a ticket.
Officer: I'm giving you a ticket for XXX locationXXX.
You: That's when you ask to see the radar.
AND if he says he cleared it, he's lying. Why would he if he was going to write a ticket.
ALSO, get details of where he says he saw you speeding. Street names, which lanes you were in and was it the road or the intersection. These will help you remember if you might have been speeding there and also it will help prove your story about your law suit.
If you get the ticket, tell him you'll see him in court to resolve this ticket and then you'll see him again after that in court.
When you fight it in court, you'll have your info that you wrote down in the car about where and when you were stopped and you should have a good case. In Nova Scotia the police only show up about 60-70% of the time, so good luck to you.
P.S If you were speeding, don't get smart, you're already getting a ticket and now you want out of it.
P.P.S. A 9mm does a good job up close. {kidding} |

In Oz we have unmanned cameras with radar. These are set are more often than the roadside pull over.
You get a nice pic of the rear of your car and number plate with the please pay this amount.
It can go to court but little chance of winning.
However......... Australian design rules - ADR's stipulate speedo's only have to be within 20% of calibration.
In other words if the limit is 50 then you could be doing 60 and use this as a valid reason. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

Then there's "the system". This is where you get a ticket, and dispute it. The court date is set, and a week or so before your date you postpone, and reschedule. When the new date comes up, you postpone again. Months go by, and the cop usually has more important things to do by then, or in many cases is transferred to another city. _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |

The only car I have been pulled over in is the 924. I was keeping up with traffic. I could understand it if I had been pulled over in my brothers truck I drive it alot more aggressivley than the 924. _________________ 80 924

I heard about this in BC several months ago. If you get a ticket, just accept it. When you go to pay it make out a cheque for a little bit over the amount (if it is $100.00 for example, make it out for $102.00). The government will send you a cheque back for the $2.oo difference. Do not cash the cheque ! The transaction is not complete and you won't get any points on your insurance or license. _________________ Silver/Grey 77.5 |

Well, I was gonna tick "I get pulled over and I deserve it" but I've never actually been pulled over in the Toofah... except for R.B.T's which don't really count. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

In the UK, the rabid car haters use this as an argument for setting the cameras to snap at 40 (even if the speed limit's 50!) _________________ 1985 Porsche 924 'Lux', Kalahari Beige (my ex)

The easiest way of avoiding a speeding ticket is not to drive fast! _________________ 1985 Porsche 924 'Lux', Kalahari Beige (my ex)

In Nova Scotia "they don't make change".
So if you send too much money, they just keep it. |
