I'm replacing my front pad's and the new ones appear to be too thick. I measure about 18.3mm from the backing. The piston seems to be retracted all the way back and I still need a few more mm to get the pad in on the inboard side. I've already got the outboard side in and seated, I just can't fit the inboard in. Are my pads too thick?

Have you slid the sliding caliper all the way back?

"Lining thickness front" - new = 14mm, wear limit = 2.0mm (-this is the lining only, does not include the thickness of the metal backing).

It's possible; but unlikely.

The inside pad can be really hard to do; especially if this is your first time. Push/pull 'up' on the outside of the caliper to gain some more room. Work with it a bit and I'm sure you'll have success.

I got them in after messing with it some more. The cylinder kept moving forward with the frame even though the piston was retracted all the way. I had to pry the cylinder from the mounting frame as I moved the caliper frame back. Still a real tight fit on the sides of the pad though, but luckily I won't have to mess with them again since I'm doing the 5-bolt conversion in a few weeks
