If you want to turbocharge 924, then it's all-by-yourself job of some Audi 5000 turbo or such. Kits for 924? Not anymore. BAE turbos aren't built for a long time, even the company doesn't exist but once in a year or more seldom you can spot one in eBay perhaps (probably totally worn out).
And modifying NA with all sorts of add-ons (bigger TBs headers etc) isn't going to pay off. Find a threads of mine, I have made some mods, but it's just for curiosity and fun, not hoping to get ANYTHING from it.
Better option would be nitrous install, simple and effective. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

Well will a 1978 original block accept a NOS kit??. and will the engine get worn real quick???? Cause what i was going to do is once we get it running and interior done i was going to have mom drive to some guys and have a 3inch exhaust pipe put on (i'm using my bank account wisely). But i just want to turbocharge it, or NA tune it. but if i can't get a turbo does anyone have so racing headers for a 1978 924 pretty cheap???, or know where i can find some.
thnx for your reply's _________________ What i own:

3" would be a waste on an n/a, 2 1/4"- 2.5" is as big as you need.
if using nos, do a complete engine rebuild for engine longitivity.
good luck! _________________ '86 944 |

oh well i got a 2 and 5/8 inch exhaust and a cherry bomb turbo 2 exhaust so i should get some more hp shouldn't i???? but i'm not doing a full engine rebuild. but does anyone know off a ECU kit for a 924 that you can hookup pretty easy? cause i've heard ECU kit's give you usually 35-60 hp so i was wondering where i could get one for around 500-700 dollars. if any info or website let me know.

I would go into the turbo conversion and the kits thing... but I dont think it would be well recieved.
I think Porsche924boy should use the search option read up here as well as buy some performance books.... |

not really hp, you may even lose lowdown torque (with a 3" anyway). improvements mostly likely to be response and exhaust note _________________ '86 944 |

use this website do a search on efi coversions. the improvement will be a lot less than 60hp though _________________ '86 944 |

The more and more I read the post on here the more sniff sniff... I smell troll... but then again I could be wrong.
As for EFI conversion, not going to get anything near 60 hp, you might improve gas mileage and get some power across the rpm range, hard to say without testing.
You should go read up on the subjects of making power, their are a ton of books on the market...

Take a shop class, read, do some research at the libary. In other words learn some more about what you are asking and dont believe the hype.
What I am getting at is this: You can get lots of advice, some good, some bad, you will find all kinds of claims about performance or that something sucks, etc... all over the internet and in different forums. The ideally approach is to learn more about a subject from the least biased sources.
You need experience and knowledge, you can not get it all from just posting on this forum. From you posts it seems you generally do not have a clue.
Thats ok, but dont get sucked in to believing everything you read, especially outside of these forums. Most of the people here as far as I know will set you on the right path. Can not speak for all the other forums out their, especially any of the more "ricer" domains... their are good people their, but you have to sort through a metric ton of BS to get to anything good.
Just read up on stuff, I mean crack a book, not sit on the different forums reading all about how some kid in a honda is getting 40 hp from an exhaust and cold air intake change... read books from experts you are published and have a solid rep.
Then with a little more knowledge you can get your feet wet with changes to your car...
These cars are no different than other cars in general function, but their are a lot of particulars to their design, that limits bolt on performance gains. Plain and simple. |

Forget about getting more power out of the 924 engine without rebuilding it, and having the head ported by a knowledgeable engine builder.
If you want more power, swap in a 924 Turbo engine. All the parts bolt right in, and you can usually get a complete drivetrain for less than $1000.
Better idea really is just to get a 924 turbo with the 5 bolt brakes anyways. _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |
