|
|
I just received the following invitation, extended to all 924 and 931 owners, to participate in the very "casual" format concours for non-garage-queens at next year's PCA Porsche Parade. It would appear, from the email, that the parade will be held in Hershey, PA. Heck, that close maybe I'll drag the racecar over - it's certainly now the prettiest 924 I own! Dates of Parade will be June 25th through July 2nd, 2005; further details will be added as they are forthcoming.
Note that PCA membership is not required to participate in this concours!
Invite follows:
Zone 2, Porsche Club of America extends an invitation to all PCA Registers to come to Hershey and help us celebrate the 50th Porsche Parade. In a break with tradition, the Parade Concours will feature a good old fashion car show for those Porsche lovers out there who just want to park their car on a field of dreams and survey everything from a lawn chair. No judges, no white gloves, and no pressure. Just show and shine your car with other (356s, 911s, and other Registers) on the fairways of the beautiful Hotel Hershey Golf Course. A tongue in cheek people's choice balloting will celebrate the beauty and "eccentricities" of your particular Porsche model. If you would like to participate in this car show, consult our website on 1 October, when we will announce special registration procedures for this very unique opportunity. Please note that you do NOT have to be a PCA member to show your car. For further questions, or you would like to help, please contact me.
I'll be sending out more info as I get it. So come and join the PARTY!!!! _________________ Vaughan Scott

Ah, if i were in the USA, i would have gone to the PCA Porsche Parade, but i am stuck here in lebanon. I wish i stayed in canada though...
The problem is that no one does such an event here... There is a porsche club here, but me and my dad would have the only 924 in the club. ALL of their membres have 911s only.

I will be there with at least the two 924s. Make reservations now.
Nice place and if you bring the family they can cruise the Hershey chocolate factory and go on the rides in the large park. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

| At this year's parade, they announced that the Hershey Parade will include a swap meet and an autocross that will require 3 rd gear! |

No. We are the PCA 77-82 924/931 Register. I am, as well as the site admin/webmeister, the Register Advocate. Even if I don't do much! _________________ Vaughan Scott

No offense was intended towards you Vaughan, youve done a great job and and a hell of a lot to gain recognition for the 924 models, and its much appreciated. But to me the clip of that "invite" reads like an after thought.. i may have read to far between the lines but i saw "well , lets see, we have to have the 911's and definatley the 356 group, oh why not, lets let them all in , the rable will be greatfull for it..." so maybe its just poorly worded, or maybe its just me, but i read it a half dozen times and didnt find it very welcoming..."open to all Porsche makes, models, and years" wouldve been easy enough... or would it have killed em to customise the invitation for each group? its not like theres allot of registries...
anyhow, thats the source of my beef, but certainly no offence intended towards Vaughan ..... _________________ Eric

That's simply because I didn't bother to edit it before posting. I will do so now. That was simply an <insert name here> kinda deal; we got invited the same as every other PCA Register out there. You forget that the bulk of the 365's are not PCA-associated! So if anything, the "and all others" line was targeted to the 365 owners, not us. _________________ Vaughan Scott

I assume that this invite is also for those of us with the 924S models, correct? _________________ Michael R. Ganshirt

Maybe we can bring the F.L.A.G. Motorsports 924's out there for the day. It's sure to get a lot of attention with our PORSCHE-IT truck hauler. The PORSCHE-IT (Thanks for the name Vaughan) is a converted 26,000 pound horse truck. We put in a lift there and stack both of our Porsche 924's and go off to the races!
Hershey is less than 2 hours from our home... _________________ Jeremy "I'm Faster than My Dad" Jadczak

Indeedy! I may likewise be convinced to drag #77 out too, as it's the only presentable concours-like car I own... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Count me in. Should have 1 complete replica/restoration to bring to the concours. I think a 933 would represent pretty well. _________________ MJ
