Bit of assistance required...Whats the best/proper way to get the valve guides out of the head?
Machine shop says they may have to be cut out?? (I cant see porsche doing something like that to be done)
Thanks Chris. _________________ 1981 924 NA (Restoring mode)

The factory procedure is to use a cutter, then press out the rest. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

Yep, it's true. I'm having engine mods done on my 928, and having new valve guides put in. Same procedure for the 924, 931, 944, 951 and 928 heads. You don't want to just press them out...if the top of the guide gets flattened or compressed during the pressing out process, you won't be able to press it all the way through, and then you're really screwed. The part of the guide that isn't flush with the head surface has to be ground off, and then the rest of it is pressed out. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
