We're having our first hot day of the year here today at close to 90ºF, but no-ooo that's not hot enough for Porsche. They say, "No problemo, we can better than double that!" - http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/smoothies931pics/detail?.dir=34d0&.dnm=3d64.jpg&.src=ph

I've been meaning to put some cookies on top of the instrument panel so I can fresh cookies when I come out from work or school. I only had a 120F degree thermo. in my car, but it tops out almost every day.

I should do that to mine. Although I don't think I want to know how hot it gets. We have already hit triple digits this year, I was outside working and used an infrared thremometer the asphalt was 158 degrees.

Man, that's HOT!!!

Have you ever noticed a film on the inside of the windshield of your car? I used to think it was just dirt but came to figure out the outgassing of the vinyl when the car sits in the sun is what causes it. And then the vinyl cracks on the dash. I always keep the vinyl covered if the car sits outside without the car cover on for any length of time. Also keep a window cracked to keep the temp down inside.

I think most of the hexa-poly-whatevers were already gassed-out of my dash before I got the car, but it was a serious problem with a previous car - the old '78 Honda Accord. A heavy hazy film used to accumulate on that windshield.

I also took a temp reading under the vinyl cover in the cargo area yesterday - it was 160ºF, so the cover dropped the temp by 30ºF. -Still not safe for those aerosol cans that say "Don't store above 120ºF".

As far as I can tell, the deep pockets behind the rear wheels stay relatively cool. I'm getting approx. 95ºF readings there today, both sides - sun and shade. -With comparable outdoor temperature and a reading of 195ºF under the hatch where it was 190ºF yesterday.

Now, add 90% humidity and you'll know how it feels down here. Sure wish I had A/C...

It's 89ºF ("feels like" 92ºF) with 47% humidity and winds S-12mph here now according to The Weather Channel.

This morning I placed a frying pan under the rear hatch glass and gave it a couple hours to heat up - then went out with a pat'o butter and an egg. No, really! The oven thermometer sitting in the pan read 190ºF, I put the butter in and it melted right away - almost burned my fingers pushing it around the pan. Then cracked the egg and let it cook. No, seriously, I'm still not kidding. After 20 minutes the clear part was still clear and I left it for a while - came back at about the 1 hour & 20 minute mark and it was fully cooked, sunny side up.

I also have a double walled plastic storage container sitting half in the sun in the passenger footwell area... I read 150ºF at the top of the lid and 102ºF inside, so that thing's dropping temps for the contents by ≈50ºF today.

could the people with tented windows measure the temp, maybe with and without a windshield screens, and with different tint levels to compare.

I have a tinted sunroof and use a windscreen sun blocker and with the windows cracked 1/8 of an inch, the car is as cool as ... well it's cool.

Heh, I'm doing flatroofing right now. Our field temp ranges from 60-85C on a hot day. Don't remember the exact conversion, but 212F is 100C.
