Hey guys as you might already know, I own a 1988 924s with my winter job this year I hope to raise enough money to repaint my 924s... Its currently the Maraschino metallic red color... (burgundy basically) I'm wondering what should my options be...
the problem with the paint is, the Previous Owner, let some bird crap sit too long... ate through the clear coat... I'm sort of worried about if I were to just repaint, the damaged areas: lights, hood, badge plate, and sunroof. that it might just not match up, or if I get it to match up, it will age differently than the rest of the car... I know a good paint job would cost me 3,000 dollars and up, (the whole car) but do you guys think I could get away with just doing the repaint of this? or what? I love my 924, its only got 57,000 on it so theres plenty of miles left in this car for me.. and I plan on owning it for a good long time... I figure that even if I were do do a full repaint, I wouldn't have to paint the interior, which would be a step up for me... maybe costing me less? or what do you guys think? I'm really open to any and all suggestions, I really love my car and cant stand to see it sitting there with these blemishes on it. thanks for your time guys it's really appreciated. _________________ Proud owner of

In my opinion I'd wait and save up more than enough to paint the whole thing. In 5 or 10 years after you repaint sections, those sections or the original painted parts may wear at different rates. Even your new paint could wear worse depending on how well it's done. Plus it would be tough to match up. I think you're better off to wait and have to done well. _________________ Mike

If you're keeping the car for a long time, get it done right. Or you can spend 3-4 hundred every 2 years and always have orange peel and blemishes.
I'm in the same boat. My budget is $5,000. |

I'd go for a full repaint, it'll cost a little more initially, but it'll still look good in five years. _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |
