I have an '88 924S US car. As with other 924/944 cars I have owned, the oil pressure gauge always reads 5 bar + when the engine is running. Recently, the gauge housing cracked and a bought a new VDO OP Gauge that reads in PSI. When I installed it, it also reads MAX psi!!!\\

Where do I look next? OP sending unit?

Thanks

Unhook the wire from the OP sender and see what the gauge reads (with the motor running).

If it's still 5, you most likey have a short in the wiring from the sender to the gauge.

If it reads 0, you have a bad OP sender.

Does the pressure read at max. when ignition is on but engine not running? - mine did this & I just replaced the pressure sender.
