Just out of curiosity, anyone here familiar with a 1988 944 T? I might have a few questions if yall be willing to help me out. I've spotted one locally, and I must say that I'm thrilled to be interested in it....

Anyways, i'll be back later just to see how much experience you guys have with 944 T's

Thanks!

From the research I've done, 87 or later is the Turbo to get. Make sure it's had timing belt done recently ... if not, factor that into your immediate repair costs / use it as a bargaining chip.

87 + T's would be a good choice because there were a few improvements over the 86 but the 86 is still a strong car.

If I plan on doing the porscheve conversion with a LS1 engine, I know I am going to need to replace the tranny. Now doing that, will I have to upgrade the stock 944 suspension along with the tranny upgrade? Should I go for a standard 5 spd LS1 manual trans. or is there another tranny that I could use in this swap that would help in my performance? I'm looking at getting my 0-60 down below 5 sec, but I'm more of a "hi-geared" kinda guy at the same time....

I know you've sorta done this conversion Porschev (though you did yours in a 924 and I'm going to do mine in a 944) Any suggestions on how I should go about this?

I'm going to need to upgrade the brakes... Suggestions on what would work best with this setup?
