Because constant adjustment seems a hassle, can the self-adjusting components be swapped into the standard drums? Looking at Haynes it doesn't appear as tho it's impossible..TIA.

Someone in Europe (Sweden) claimed that his car came with self-adjusting rear brake shoes, but I have neven seen any on a 924 with drums. The board member that posted that claim never sent any photos to confirm.

The Haynes manuals in in the U.S. do not make any mention of self-adjusting rear brake shoes, or show any photos of such, so I can't comment.

The four wheel disc brake/five bolt wheel conversion is a simple bolt-on conversion, and is the normal way of curing the rear brake adjustment problem (at least here in the U.S.).

This is something I've been loking at for a while. I've even got the genuine Porsche part numbers ! (left hand/ right hand backplates, adjusters).

That was the easy bit ....... finding the parts now thats another story. I've contacted several Porsche independants/ breakers about this with the part numbers etc and the only thing I've been offered is a big bag of rocking horse droppings !

I'm now looking for some flanges that will fit the splines so I can bolt standard audi discs to them and fit Mk2 golf rear calipers with adapters. A kit for beetles was offered a few years ago by a now defunct company, that did just this I have a picture of the adapters used and being a toolmaker once I find a flange the rest will be easy.

Apparently this kit used type 3 or 914 discs. can anyone confirm that these will fit the splines of a 924?
