|
|
The metal coolant pipe on my car just hangs in the air (held in place by just the rubber hoses).
Porsche PET shows this pipe being held on with a strange bracket via via one of those rubber anti-vibration bobbins found around the car.
The bracket is missing from my car and I can't see where the fixed end would attach to. (The picture in PET is no help.)
Can any of you guys come up with a description or picture so I get an idea of what to look for (or even fabricate my own). _________________ 1985 Porsche 924 'Lux', Kalahari Beige (my ex)

I've often wondered about that myself, and upon inspecting the following enlargement of the PET drawings, I think I see what's missing:
Item #12 (047.121.094, support) appears to be designed to attach over the top of the thermostat housing (#25, 059.121.121, cover), and to be held in place with one of the two hex bolts for the thermostat housing. Pelican parts has it listed as WATER HOSE BRACKET, OEM-047121094, for US$17.13.
The other significant piece that would be needed is item #13 (999.703.239.00, bonded rubber buffer). Pelican lists this part as BONDED RUBBER BUFFER, OEM-99970323900, for US$5.39.
Both parts are special order, require minimum 1 week, and are non-returnable. The rest of the stuff looks like standard hardware (nuts & washers). I bet you could get some angle bracket and fab up your own setup for less than $22.
I was having trouble with mine moving around, causing the water tube (item #11) to rub on one of the hoses, so I used a zip tie around the tube and the coolant reservoir bracket to sort of hold it in place. But it's cool to see what's supposed to be there. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Thanks, ideola.
You must have got up really early to reply so quickly.
I think I see it now. Fitting over the top of the thermstat housing explains the strange shape in PET.
$17 for a bent bit tin! No way am I paying that. I'll make something up.
Thanks again. _________________ 1985 Porsche 924 'Lux', Kalahari Beige (my ex)

5:15 AM EDT, to be exact. Only to find out my travel plans were all SNAFU'd. So what better to do now that I'm up?!

My thoughts exactly. I'd be interested to know what you come up with. I'm going to take a look at mine and experiment with some thick copper muffler hanger I have laying around...if I can come up with something that looks like it'll work similar to the stock setup, I'll post it here. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
