I finally got around to getting the stereo amps and sub box in the way I wanted. I know it might be a bit too much "pimp my ride" style...but what do you do with a 2800 watt system...can't hide it under your seat.
I have to say...I was not a big fan of the "BIG" sound system...but this one I got off ebay for a song sounds super...like a house stereo in your car.
I did all the vinal and carpentry work....it was a huge bog to make this install...like the rest of the car...

After buying what I did and listening everyay
I found that all I wanted was a sub sound added
period like a home sys. with a bass box your supposed to
have installed in the right spot
compared to other speakers to make it sound right you know
like a surreal surround hom theatre sys. or
something I got a bunch of wood from work
also its like 1' press board thats used for
rim joists in instead of a 2" x 12" which
is to heavy. Its a good looken sys. porchev
how much does it weigh not to much with
your powerplant. I like it. The yellow is kind of bright
Im going to black vinyl as I tried yellow. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

Funny thing about the weight of this system...the 50/50 distribution that everyone was concerned about when I dropped in the V8...... No longer an issue. The sub box, amps/crossovers, capicator and 6 disc changer put about 200 lbs back there.
The system also has 4 tweets and 4 mids. Tweet and Mid on each door. 2 tweets where the heater controls used to be (don't need those anymore) and made a spot where the factory speakers were in the quarter panels.

So that's why you put a V8 in there...lug around all that extra weight eh....
Nice work... many a pro installer would not do half a nice job like that!!....
I'd like to see a hood cowl go over those carbs though... I don't think it would detract from the 924 lines.... Might stop bugs getting in them though....
Black might get a bit hot Joe...
How is ventillation looking in your setup PORSCHEV... do those amps get enough air to them?? What did you do for the power draw on the battery, I assume your running the V8's alternator ...what's it's rated at.?

I tried many different forms of hood scoops and couldn't find anything that didn't look like a top fuel funny car on the 924 ...thats why I decided to let it all hang out. It has grown on me since then and I loveit now.
The amps actually have alot of airflow where they are...I may have problems in the hot sun tho....the cargo cover would hide the system from a theft as well.
For power..I have a 100 amp GM alt...plus I am running a big capacitor to the amps for the big bass kicks. _________________ 1976 924

Impressive! I love the way it looks the car. You did a really nice job flushing things up and matching the color. Cool idea for the whole thing to lift up. I'm just getting started on my sound system...but it's nothing compared to yours. Just a few boxed 6x9's in the rear, possibly amped. Looking good though. _________________ Mike
