Particularly, I need to know what a 78's timing is supposed to be. I'd like someone with an intact underhood sticker to tell me what it says. Thanks fellas. _________________ Dan Flanagan--2002 VW Jetta TDI, 83 Mercedes 300D,83 Mercedes Euro-240D |

Haynes says 3° ATDC, timing mark '-3' with hoses connected. Is that another Haynes mistake needing correction? pg 123 _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

No I don't think so. With the vacuum hose attached you get a vacuum retard deal happening. The vacuum retard is about 6-8 degrees.
I agree its not very clear and caused a lot of frustration for me for a long time until someone called it out a while back on my similar post. _________________ 1978 924 95 mile daily driver.

I knew that positive thinking thing wouldn't work. |
