I am almost ready to take on the project of a rusted out battery tray. The damage is not really too serious compared to some other pictures I have seen on the board. I am thinking about sheet metal with rivets followed by a healthy layer of fiberglass. I am just wondering what approaches other members have made for this common 924 problem. i.e. welding etc etc. What works and what does not work....

just keep in mind that if you use rivets you run the risk of allow moisture to get between the old metal and your new metal.BANG Rust.

Cut out the rust and make a new piece from steel an get it welded. The repair will outlive the car.

Also, this forum is for instructional guides rather than questions. Your post belongs more in general discussion.
