I just got my 924 from my family. It's kind of a hand-me-down. My uncle passed away and left it with my family. Nobody wanted to mess with fixing it up, so I stepped in and gave it a new home out of the weather.

There are switches in the car that I'm not sure exactly what they are for. I messed with them a little, but maybe they are not working and that's why I didn't get results from flipping them on and off.

I'll try to post a pic of the switches on the center console area. The two spots on the right are just blanks, no switches in those holes. It's the left two I'm looking for info about. One is for the mirrors, but for what reason? The other says "On" and "Off"

The mirror switch selects which mirror to adjust. In the pic, it's set to adjust the right-side. The adjustment control is on the drivers' door.
Not sure about the other one - maybe for foglights?

the brown one was most definately added by someone one at some point, could be either to rplace the original switch, or just stuck in there to fill the space (i dont like the switch "blanks" and have a few unwired switches in mine as well for future "expansion" ).. easiest way to tell is to simply pry it up and see it there are wires connected to it, or pull up the blank cover next to it, or yank the ashtray and feel for wires.
if it is connected, it could be for a bunch of things. fogs, rear fogs, warm start grounding switch, ect.. i have an on/off like that to turn on my non original rear wiper..

Take out the ashtray rather than the switch...they get fragile with age...

The rear hatch wiper switch goes into one of the four slots. Mine is far left, with the mirror cross-over switch in the second position. Since its brown, its obviously been installed after the fact, and could be just about anything. The stock foglight switch is a large three-position rocker switch (off, rear, front & rear) on the dash to the right of the ignition switch, similar to the headlight switch.

The aftermarket switch goes up under the dash and then stops in a curled up mess that was cut from whatever it was once used for. I guess it could be used to turn an amp on for a stereo system someday. Or maybe I'll buy some fog lights.
Thanks guys

On my 80 931 the switches control (from right to left) rear wiper(on/off), blank, headlight washer(momentary contact) and mirrors(left/right).

The no-longer connected switch could also be the valet switch for an old alarm system. I mounted mine in a unused location on the center console, and used a switch from what I think was a 911 model.

The switch in the brown position in my car is for the rear hatch wiper. One of the other switches ive wired up to bypass the fuel pump relay. Ive put other unwired switches in the holes to make it look neat. Also have a crack exactly where yours is.

I ripped the console out today to remove the dash, so I plan to fix the crack the best I can and then repaint the console at the same time I paint the dash.
