It's not paint. Powder coating is a process where a finely ground powder is sprayed at very low pressure from an electrically charged gun. The cleaned and bare metal part is grounded, the gun is charged to 10,000 volts to give the particles a very high electrical charge. The particles are instantly drawn to the part, adhering to the charged surface. The part is then baked (high-temperature cured) and, as soon as it is cooled, is ready to go.

After beadblasting the part you wash it down with soap and water then blow it dry. Apply the powder and bake it at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes.

Car and Driver once described the 944 manifold as looking like a "bunch of bananas". Looks like you've done it right!

Can you tell us your sources for the equipment and associated costs?

The manifold looks great!

http://www.columbiacoatings.com/

I bought the oven from a local hardware store.... Total cost for the oven and gun is around $300

Powder Gun - Includes Powder Coat System, Foot Switch, Power Source, Inline Filter, Two 12 oz Powder Cups and Basic Powder Coating Instructions. $70 and up depending on which gun you use.

Very nice, for those of us in the States, Harbor Freight also carries a powder gun and oven. Don't know the price off hand but should be around the 300 mark by the time you are done.

OK, I'm jealous. Maybe this will be my "big gift" next Christmas.

I had some parts done by a guy who has built a couple of really nice street rods, and he told me that in his experience, unless he does a final wash in acetone, the finished product has a tendency to crack/peel or otherwise come off after a while. In his words, things must be "immaculately clean" before applying the powder and baking.

400 degrees.

You can also use infrared curing lamps or propane systems.

It is the object being coated that needs to reach 400 in order for the powder to flash.
