It feels good to be back in a Porsche again. My first car, a '77 924, died a terrible electrical/headgasket death. I was sad to see it go, but it wasn't in great shape when I bought it anyways...
It's been 13 years. A little over a month ago something "clicked" and told me "find a car. Now"
After looking at several early 80's 924's and a couple 70's 911's, I decided "ok, maybe not yet" and then several days later something else "clicked" and said "Go here. Now"
So I did. And I found my car. An almost perfect '88 924S. 105,000 miles. Took it for a drive, and that was it. Ran perfect. Pulled hard. Stopped great. Everything worked, even the cruise control. Pouring down rain during the drive, not a single leak. Even better, there was no foggy buildup in the cab, as with my old 924.
We paid too much for it at $6000, but I was willing to get robbed because I love my job. However, out of spite, my license plate frame will soon read "I got screwed by..." We tried every trick in the book to talk them down, given to us by a car dealer, but nothing worked.
I was able to track down the original owner through the original service manuals that came with the car. She'll be sending records soon. Says the car was meticulously maintained. And it shows.
Anyways, I'm glad to be back in the seat.
Here's the car!

Wow! Nice example! Congrats. If you've got the money and you want the car, there is not much shame in over paying. In the grand scheme of things, $6000 is still pretty cheap for a car... _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

Yeeks! NOw I feel much better
I should post interior pics.
I spoke to the original owner again today, and she said it was always run with Mobile1 synthetic. I don't know what the second owner ran in it for the last 18,000 miles, but it's getting synthetic again soon. |
