Got the dash ripped out of my car. I`m adding a nice pioneer cd reciever, fixing a few odds and ends, and replacing the dash with a virtually crack free dash.
For now, I found some infinity 4x6 plate speakers that I must say, fit very nicely in the stock locations in the rear. No cutting or anything of that nature.
Should I....just use the stock wiring to the rears...or run some new speaker wire? I don`t want to run new wire if there isn`t a benefit in doing so.
thanks... |

I would definately run some higher quality speaker wire to the all the speakers. The stock wires are old, brittle and not very high quality. If you are adding aftermarket speakers, go with some good wires as well. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

Yup, running new wire doesn't take too long once you've got the dash out. I ran both sides of mine up the driver's side under the plastic door sill thing. I just ran the passenger side wire under the carpet behind the back seat to the other side...though mine are running to the 6x9 box enclosures against the rear of the hatch. But it's an option I guess. I still tucked them under the rear quarter trim to hide them. _________________ Mike

you guys just want to make more work for me!
I hate the idea of not having any sound in front of me, but I`d hate to cut up my almost perfect door cards. I know 4x6 speakers would fit up front, but no one sells these with covers. I`ve found 6" round with covers, but these more than likely won`t work due to the location of the power window motor.
I might have to do the 6x9 encolosed way in the back like you`ve got em whodak... |

You could still put the 4x6's in the rear behind the the trim panel and later add ones to the doors...or even find door panels with the cutouts already in them. My PO shredded the wiring in someway, and only had the drivers side door speaker cut in and installed.... So I pulled the wires from the rear speakers literally, I didn't feel like taking off the quarter panel piece, and then ran new stuff back to the hatch. It works. _________________ Mike
